NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (3/9/22) – Melody Caces went a perfect 4-for-4, while
Eliza Filus and J
enn Majorczak both went 3-for-5 as the Kean University softball team smacked 16 hits in a 13-5 victory over King's College (Pa.) on Wednesday morning.
Filus drove in three RBI's, while
Gabriella Fredette went 2-for-4 with three runs scored for the Cougars who improve to 8-2 overall. Lindsey Leppo finished 3-for-3 with three RBI's for the Monarchs who fall to 4-3 overall.
Kean jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings after RBI's from Filus, Fredette,
Karly Messina, Caces, and
Andee Perseponko.
Kings answered with four runs in the second to cut the Cougars lead to 6-4. Kean responded with two runs apiece in both the third and fifth innings for a 10-4 advantage. Fredette and Filus each added another RBI, while Caces scored two runs on Monarchs errors.
The Cougars added three more runs in the seventh with RBI's from Majorczak, Filus and
Isabella Polash.
Heather Clevenger tied a career-high with nine strikeouts in the complete game victory.
