MAHWAH, N.J. (4/12/22) – Katie Pileggi collected 10 draw controls and broke the single season record as the Kean University women's lacrosse team dispatched Ramapo College 19-4 on Tuesday afternoon.
Pileggi added eight points on five assists and three goals as the Cougars improved to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Colleen Mason tallied three goals for the Roadrunners who fall to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the NJAC.
Kean opened the contest with nine straight goals, including a hat-trick from
Kylie Giordano and two goals from Pileggi. Mason scored back-to-back goals before halftime as the Cougars maintained a 9-2 advantage at intermission.
In the second half,
Dana Meehan notched six points (four goals, two assists), Pileggi tallied four points (four assists) and
Amanda Ehrhart collected four points (three goals, one assists) as the Cougars poured in 10 more goals.
Meehan totaled nine points on six goals and three assists, while Ehrhart tallied six points on four goals and two assists. Pileggi broke Joeline Bennett record of 87 draw controls set during the 2007 season.
Pileggi added three groundballs and two caused turnovers, while
Emily Bretschneider tallied six caused turnovers, four draw controls and two groundballs.
Rosalee Lachner collected three groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Nicole Peters made six saves in 60 minutes of work.
