EWING, N.J. (4/2/22) – Eliza Filus finished 5-for-8 with four runs scored, three RBI's, two stolen bases and a homerun as the Kean University softball team split a doubleheader with the College of New Jersey in their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener on Saturday afternoon.

Filus went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, while
Gabriella Fredette finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.
Paige Metz went 2-for-4, while
Karly Messina,
Sarah Zengel and
Courtney Sherwood each tallied a hit.
Annabella Marino struck out two batters in a complete game loss.
Kean notched runs in the first, third and fifth innings for a 4-1 advantage entering the bottom of the seventh. Fredette recorded a RBI single in the first, while Zengel notched a two RBI double in the third. The Lions rallied with four runs on five hits, including two errors for a walk-off victory in the seventh.

Filus finished 2-for-4 with three RBI's and a run scored, while Metz,
Jenn Majorczak, and Messina each recorded a hit.
Heather Clevenger struck out three batters in the complete game victory.
After each scoring a run, the Cougars and Lions were deadlocked at 1-1 entering extra innings. In the eighth, Filus smacked her fifth homerun of the season with a three-run bomb to left field that put Kean in front at 4-1.
TCNJ scored twice in the bottom half of the inning and threated with the winning run at the plate, but a fly out and groundout ended the game for the Lions.
