LA PLUME, Pa. (4/20/22) - The Kean University men's lacrosse team set a single game program record for the largest margin of victory in the 27-0 victory over Keystone College on Wednesday evening.
Nick Thorne totaled seven points on three goals and four assists for the Cougars who improve to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Gabe Reyes tallied four caused turnovers and three groundballs for the Giants who remain winless at 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the CSAC.
Thorne led 18 different goal scorers with
Anton Updale and
Aidan Lash notching hat-tricks along with Thorne.
The Cougars notched 17 goals in the opening stanza, including Thorne collecting all seven points before halftime. In the second half, Updale completed his hat-trick, while Lash tallied three goals over the final 16 minutes.
Kean dominated on shots (52-0), shots on goal (38-0) and groundballs (48-10).
Christian Schlaefer totaled six points on five assists and one goal, while
Kyle Ryder,
Connor Batjer and
Brian Novotny each tallied three points apiece.
At faceoffs,
Christian Baucom went a perfect 17-for-17 with 10 groundballs, while
Daniel Gilligan finished 9-for-10. On the turf,
Joey McNulty collected six groundballs, while
Dominic Martine and
Adam Claxton notched three apiece. On defense,
Vinny Campbell,
Anthony Porter and
Raymond Gorny each recorded two caused turnovers apiece.
Thomas Francy,
Devin Reppert, and
Michael Yukas combined for 60 minutes in goal.
