Jersey City, N.J. (4/23/22) – The Kean University baseball team improved to 11-1 in league play with a 16-5 win over New Jersey City University on Friday afternoon.
The Cougars (28-6) scored in all but one inning on the day as they used a balanced attack and led from start to finish.
Highlighting the offense was a bases-clearing double from Kyle Adorno in the sixth and a two run homerun from Phil Marcantonio in the eighth. In total the Cougars collected 17 hits with every starter registering at least one.
On the mound Dylan Taliaferro improved to 7-0 with five innings of work and seven strikeouts. Bruce Weyand (1) earned a save after tossing four innings of relief with six strikeouts.
Brett Hilsheimer and Michael Lapczynski each had three hits on the day with Adorno collecting four RBI.
Kean will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to the College of New Jersey for an NJAC doubleheader.
