UNION, N.J. (4/26/22) – Dana Meehan totaled five points on four goals and one assist as the Kean University women's lacrosse team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to Montclair State University, 12-11 on Tuesday afternoon.
Kaitlyn Arcede tallied five points on three goals and two assists for the Red Hawks who improve to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC.
Sarah Wagner totaled four points on three goals and one assist for the Cougars who fall to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the NJAC.
After falling behind 1-0, Kean notched three straight goals, including two from Wagner for a 3-1 lead. MSU answered with a 5-1 run for a 6-4 lead early in the second quarter. Meehan helped the Cougars stay within striking distance as the senior scored all four of her goals during the second quarter. Kean trailed by two at halftime, 10-8.
After a scoreless third quarter,
Katie Pileggi scored two of the Cougars three fourth quarter goals to cut the lead to one at 12-11 with 5:36 remaining.
That would be the closest Kean got as the Cougars couldn't find the equalizer.
Amanda Ehrhart totaled four points on three assists and one goal, while Pileggi notched three points on two goals and one assist.
At the draw,
Emily Bretschneider and Pileggi both tallied seven apiece. On the turf, Bretschneider collected four groundballs, while
Jenn Koval finished with three. On defense, Bretschneider tallied four caused turnovers, while Koval recorded three.
In goal,
Nicole Peters finished with nine saves in 60 minutes of work.
