Softball Extends Winning Streak to Five with Sweep of Stockton

UNION, N.J. (4/9/22) – Gabriella Fredette went 3-for-6 with seven RBI's, four runs scored and a Grand slam over two games as the Kean University softball team extended their winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of Stockton University on Saturday afternoon.

Fredette finished 2-for-3 with a grand slam, five RBI's and two runs scored, while Eliza Filus went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Karly Messina finished 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Gianna Pickens scored a run.

Messina struck out five batters in a complete game victory.

Kean notched two runs in the first with an RBI single from Fredette and an RBI double from Messina. Stockton answered with a three run homer to take a 3-2 lead in the second.

The Cougars responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, as Filus drove in a run and Fredette went yard with a grand slam as Kean jumped back in front at 7-3 and never trailed again.

Jenn Majorczak finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Filus finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Paige Metz, Fredette, Messina, Sarah Zengel and Andee Perseponko all finished 1-for-3.

Heather Clevenger struck out three batters in the complete game victory.

Kean notched two runs in the first with RBI singles from both Filus and Fredette for a 2-0 lead. Perseponko added another run in the third with an RBI single. The Cougars closed out the series with a five run sixth inning that included RBI's from Majorczak, Fredette, Messina and Zengel.

Head Coach Margie Acker and the Cougars will return to action in Mahwah, N.J. on Tuesday, Apr. 12th, against the Roadrunners of Ramapo College for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
