UNION, N.J. (4/9/22) – Sarah Wagner finished with nine points on a single-game record seven assists, and two goals in the 20-3 senior day victory over Rutgers-Camden on Saturday.
Dana Meehan notched a career-high seven goals for the Cougars who improve to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Claire Gailliout scored and assisted on a goal for the Scarlet Raptors who fall to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC.
Wagner assisted on five goals and scored another as the Cougars held Camden scoreless at halftime, 13-0. Meehan tallied five goals, while
Nikki Mastrodomenico recorded two in a double-digit scoring first half.
In the second half, Mastrodomenico completed her hat-trick, while Meehan added two more goals as the Cougars pushed their lead to 16-11 in the fourth quarter.
Wagner set the single-game record when she connected with
Amanda Brzoska at the 6:32 mark of the fourth quarter. The fifth-year senior broke the single-game record held by Morgan Graham. Graham notched six assists in a 16-11 victory over Farmingdale State on Mar. 31
st, 2018.
Rosalee Lachner capped off the afternoon scoring with her first goal of the season.
Amanda Ehrhart and
Katie Pileggi each totaled six points apiece. Ehrhart totaled five assists and one goal, while Pileggi tallied three goals and three assists. Pileggi added nine draw controls, four caused turnovers and three groundballs.
Emily Bretschneider finished with five caused turnovers, four groundballs, three draw controls, one goal, and one assist.
Grace Michielli collected four draw controls, while Lachner added two.
Nicole Peters and
Sydney Koch combined for two saves in 60 minutes of work.
Before the game, the coaching staff honored Meehan, Bretschneider,
Madison Varellie,
Gwen Sanagustin, Mastrodomenico, and
Meghan Santina for their hard work and dedication to the program.
