UNION, N.J. (5/8/22) – Christian Pellone RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth helped the fourth seed Kean University baseball team stay alive with a 5-4 walk-off victory over the sixth seed Ramapo College on Sunday afternoon.
Kyle Adorno finished 3-for-5 with a run scored for the Cougars who improve to 30-12 overall. Joe Wisniewski went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Roadrunners who fall to 16-23-1 overall.
After Ramapo opened with a run in the top of the first, Kean answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Philip Mahlik, Pellone,
Phil Marcantonio all notched RBI hits in the first as Kean took a 3-1 lead.
Caleb Rodriguez added another run in the third which increased the Cougars lead to 4-1.
The Roadrunners responded with two runs in the third and a solo homerun in the eight to even the contest at 8-8.
In the ninth,
Gianni Marano walked, Adorno singled to left and Mahlik walked to load the bases for Pellone. The sophomore flew out to right which allowed Marano to score and keep the Cougars championship hopes alive.
Brett Hilsheimer went 2-for-4, while Marcantonio finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Pellone went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Mahlik and Rodriguez both went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Collin Kiernan tossed a complete game with six strikeouts to improve to 9-2 overall.

Neil Ioviero and the Cougars will return to action tomorrow against the fifth seed TCNJ Lions at 3:30 p.m.
