UNION, N.J. (9/14/22) –
Gracie Casais notched a goal in each half as the Kean University women's soccer team shutout Manhattanville College, 4-0 on Wednesday evening.
Vanessa Leon collected two assists for the Cougars who improve to 1-3-2 overall. Macey Girard made 16 saves for the Valiants who remain winless at 0-5 overall.
The Cougars scored three times in the opening stanza for a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime. Leon's first assist came in the 22
nd minute with a through ball to Casais, who beat the keeper one-on-one. The Sophomore tallied her second assist in the 35
th minute on a corner kick to
Renee Rocha, who scored with a header in the box.
Sonya Brewer notched the final goal of the half with a blast from 30 yards out.
In the second half, Casais scored on another through ball from
Celine Brady to cap off the scoring for the evening.
Kean dominated on shots (34-8) and shots on goal (20-4).
Casais posted eight shots, while
Sophia Lang recorded six.
Abigail Wing earned her first victory in goal with four saves in 90 minutes of work.
