UNION, N.J. (9/2/2022) – Gabe Llanos scored the lone goal of the evening to lift the Kean University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Centenary University on the opening day of the Tony Ochrimenko Classic.
Isaac Guerrero and
Felix Pereyra both assisted on the game-winner as the Cougars improve to 1-0 overall. Julian Lippner and Kevin Lopez both recorded two shots apiece for the Cyclones who fall to 0-1 overall.
The Cougars broke through late in the 37rd minute as Pereyra played a through ball to Guerrero who served it into the box for Llanos. The junior lightly tapped it past the keeper for the lone goal of the evening.
Kean edged Centenary on shots (11-8) and corner kicks (2-1), while remaining even with shots on goal (4-4).
Santi Alzate,
Kelvin Gyamfi each notched two shots apiece.
Dominic Ridge and
Dillon Konzelmann combined for four saves in 90 minutes of work.
Head Coach
Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action tomorrow, hosting the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on the final day of the Tony Ochrimenko Classic at 7:30 p.m.
