NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (9/27/22) – Peyton Mann notched a hat-trick, including two fourth quarter goals, as the #7 Kean University field hockey team rallied to beat SUNY New Paltz, 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
Ja'Carra Jackson posted an assist for the Cougars who improve to 8-1 overall. Hannah Ackerman and Natasia Pluckett each tallied a goal for the Hawks who fall to 5-2 overall.
A scoreless opening 24 minutes gave way to a goal for each side in the 25
th minute. Mann posted her 11
th goal of the season, before the Hawks answered 30 seconds later with the equalizer. The contest remained with a 1-1 deadlocked at halftime.
In the third quarter, New Paltz increased their lead to 2-1 just three minutes in with a rebound shot. The Hawks maintained the advantage into the fourth.
In the final quarter, Mann scored two goals in a 45 second span which put the Cougars back in front at 3-2 in the 57
th minute. New Paltz was held to just one shot in the final stanza.
Mann recorded eight shots, while
Morgan Stump collected three and
Kelsey Corbett tallied two.
Jenna Flemings made five saves in 60 minutes of work.
