GALLOWAY, N.J. (1/11/23) - Griffin Barker tallied a double-double with 25 points and 20 rebounds as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to Stockton University, 82-77 on Wednesday evening.
Kyion Flanders totaled 21 points for the Ospreys who improve to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the NJAC.
Letrell West notched 25 points for the Cougars who fall to 13-2 overall and 6-2 in the NJAC.
Barker and West combined for 29 points as the Cougars shot 44.8% from the floor and led 44-38 at halftime. The first half saw multiple runs as Kean took their largest lead of the game at 31-22 with 7:12 remaining. Stockton answered with a 13-5 run to tie the contest at 35-33 with 3:09 remaining. West poured in seven points during an 11-5 run to end the half.
Kean struggled in the second stanza shooting 29.4% from the floor and 35.7% from downtown. Flanders sparked the Ospreys with 21 second half points on five triples. The Cougars maintained the lead early before Flanders points put Stockton in front for good. The Ospreys did stretch the lead to double-digits, before Kean was able to get some points back in the final few minutes.
Corey Thelisme and
Heem Burno both tallied nine points apiece, while
Ethan Stith recorded six.
