Glassboro, N.J. (1/7/23) – The Kean University women's basketball team had four players finish in double figures but it wasn't enough as host Rowan University defeated the Cougars, 79-66, on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Both teams shared or exchanged the lead early before the Profs (8-6, 4-3 NJAC) used a strong second quarter to push out to their largest advantage of the day (29-11).
The Cougars (6-8, 4-3 NJAC) chipped away and brought the deficit down to just three points (40-37) with 5:19 to go in the third quarter on a trey from Sarah Olivero. Rowan responded with a 9-0 run to pull their advantage back out to double-digits and would hang on for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Brittany Graff led Kean with 13 points with five steals while Shannon McCoy and Olivero each added 13. Kayla Anderson recorded 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Nicole Mallard led the Profs with 20 points off the bench, including 12 from the charity stripe.
