Newport News, Va. (10/21/23) – Christopher Newport University improved to 3-0 in the NJAC with a 34-10 win over the Kean University football team on Saturday afternoon.
The Captains took a 13-0 lead after the first quarter with rushing touchdowns from Colin Hart and Gunner White.
The Cougars got on the board in the second quarter as Logan Matthews connected on a 39 yard field goal.
CNU built their lead up to 27-3 by the intermission with two more touchdowns from quarterback Matt Dzierski.
Later in the fourth quarter, Christian Rando found Jalen Gundy with a 17 yard strike, capping a 70 yard drive for what would be the final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Rando was 14-of-24 for 121 yards in his first start.
Defensively Raymond Gorny led the Cougars with 14 total tackles and a half sack.

Kean travels to non-conference opponent Franklin and Marshall next Saturday.
