Waltham, Mass. (11/10/23) – The Kean University women's basketball team fell to Oberlin College in the Brandeis Judges Invitational Tournament on Friday evening by the final of 80-72.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Oberlin led or was tied with Kean for the entire first half, but the Cougars kept it close, pulling within five at the break, 39-34.
Kean adjusted in the third quarter and took their first lead of the contest with a 5-0 run on a trey from Gissel Gamble and two free throws from Shahd Badeer. The Cougars outscored Oberlin, 28-17 in the third frame.
The Cougars were the first to reach a double-digit advantage, early in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 12 (68-56).
But Oberlin chipped away and won the game with a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line down the stretch.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Brittany Graff recorded a team-high 20 points to go along with nine rebounds and six assists. Gamble finished the night with 13 points while Badeer added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Kean will face Wellesley College on Saturday at noon.
