Arcadia Edges Women's Basketball

Union, N.J. (12/16/23) – Arcadia University remained unbeaten by edging the Kean University women's basketball team by the final of 64-61 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game was competitive throughout with five ties and 10 lead changes.

The Cougars (6-6) pushed ahead early and led by as many as 11 in the first 10 minutes with a trey from Maya Edwards, capping a 10-2 run.

The Knights (9-0) went on their own run after that and took the lead back (18-17).

Kean got back in the driver's seat and led by six at the intermission.  Brittany Graff led all players with 10 points in the first half while Delaney Bell added nine for the Knights.

Arcadia outscored Kean, 22-11 in the third quarter to retake the advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.

The Cougars responded and retook the lead on two separate occasions in the final period, but Bell was able to give the Knights the lead for good with a jumper under the three minute mark.  Trailing by one (62-61) with 13 seconds to go, the Cougars fouled Abby Beam who converted both free throws to push the advantage back out to three.  Kean's final shot attempt missed the mark for what would be the final.

Graff finished with a team-high 17 points while Macy Seaman added 11 points, five rebounds and three blocks.  Rookie Gigi Gamble provided 10 points and four steals while Riley Ahrens added eight points and eight rebounds.

For Arcadia, Hanna Rhoades led all players with 21 points.  Bell and Katie Rodriguez each had a double-double (20/14, 12/13).
