RIVERDALE, N.Y. (2/11/23) – Jack Freese tallied 17 kills and a .394 hitting percentage over two matches as the Kean University men's volleyball team extended their winning streak to four matches with a sweep of a tri-match with the College of Mount Saint Vincent and Hunter College on Saturday.
Kean 3 (3-3), CMSV 0 (2-2)
- Kean swept host CMSV in straight sets (25-10, 25-12, 25-10).
- The Cougars tallied 37 kills and six errors on 65 swings.
- Kean posted a .477 hitting percentage.
- The Dolphins posted 14 kills and 17 errors on 67 swings.
- CMSV tallied a -.045 hitting percentage.
- The Cougars hit over .350 for the match.
- The Dolphins hit below .100 for the match.
- Chris Mitchell led the match with nine kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
- Aidan Flinn totaled 10 digs, six kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
- Maxwell Thompson totaled six kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
- Brandon Millias and David Flores combined for 23 assists.
- Cris Naranjo collected nine digs.
- Kevin Erhand totaled a match-high seven kills for the Dolphins.
Kean 3 (4-3), Hunter 2 (0-2)
- Kean defeated Hunter in a five set thriller (25-21, 27-25, 17-25, 21-25, 15-13).
- The Cougars took the first two sets with a .478 and .200 hitting percentages.
- Hunter responded to take sets third and four with a .333 and a .179 hitting percentages.
- In the deciding set, the Cougars rallied from a two-point deficit to put away the Hawks on a Flinn kill.
- Kean captured the deciding set despite tallying more errors on the same amount of swings.
- Rajheem Meulens (13), Freese (11) and Mitchell (10) all notched double digit kills.
- Luke Frankenfield (26) and Flores (25) handed out double-digit assists.
- Naranjo (20), Mitchell (11) and Flinn all collected double-digit digs.
- Naranjo's 20 dig performance is a career-high and is the fourth highest single game record, joining Sam Haimann who also had 20 digs against Sage on Feb. 11, 2012.
