UNION, N.J. (2/20/23) – Connor Batjer notched his 100
th career point as the Kean University men's lacrosse team opened the 2023 season with a 16-15 victory over Skidmore College on Monday afternoon.
Batjer finished with six points on four goals and two assists for the Cougars who improve to 1-0 overall. Charlie McFadden totaled five points on four goals and one assist for the Thoroughbreds who fall to 0-1 overall.
First Half
- Kean led 7-6 at halftime.
- After trading goals, Batjer and Dante Magliano scored back to-back man-up goals to lead 5-3 after 15 minutes of play.
- Skidmore opened the second quarter with back-to-back scores to even everything at 5-5.
- Magliano punched in two more second quarter goals for a 7-5 advantage.
- Tommy Pellegrino and Nick Thorne scored and assisted on a goal.
- Anthony Porter notched two assists.
- Jackson Earley and Dylan Johnson also tallied an assist.

- Skidmore and Kean were even, 9-9.
- The Thoroughbreds tied the game at 8-8 on back-to-back goals
- Batjer scored three times and Thorne assisted on two goals as the Cougars increased their lead to 11-8.
- During that run, Batjer notched his 100th career points on a feed from Johnson.
- Johnson scored his first career goal as Kean maintained a three goal advantage at 12-9 to end the third.
- Skidmore responded with three straight goals to even the contest at 13-13.
- Kean answered back with goals from Pellegrino, Thorne and Porter to go back up three with 3:18 remaining.
- The thoroughbreds made things close late as Jon Bouiver scored two goals in the final 30 seconds.
