JERSEY CITY, N.J. (2/4/23) – Jack Freese collected 18 kills and posted a .433 hitting percentage over two matches as the Kean University men's volleyball team split a tri-match with host New Jersey City University and SUNY Old Westbury on Saturday.
NJCU 3 (2-2), Kean 0 (0-3)
- The Gothic Knights defeated the Cougars in their NJAC opener.
- NJCU hit .275 for the match with just seven errors.
- Kean hit .138 for the match with 19 errors.
- The Gothic Knights hit above .200 in sets one and three.
- NJCU and Kean posted an even .179 in set two.
- Rajheem Meulens posted a match-high 10 kills.
- Luke Frankenfield and David Flores both tallied 13 assists apiece.
- Frankfield collected a career-high 13 digs.
- James Bajor led NJCU with nine kills.
- Alex Casais totaled 23 assists for the Gothic Knights.
- Daniel Esteva notched 12 digs for the NJCU defense.
Kean 3 (1-3), Old Westbury 0 (0-1)
- The Cougars swept first year program SUNY Old Westbury in straight sets for the first victory of 2023
- Bez Arslani earns his first victory as a full-time head coach at Kean. Arslani tallied five victories with an interim tag last season.
- The Cougars tallied 34 kills with three errors and a .585 hitting percentage
- The Panthers finished with just three kills, 11 errors and a -.190. hitting percentage
- Old Westbury didn't post a positive hitting percentage all match.
- Freese totaled 12 kills on 13 swings and a .846 hitting percentage.
- Chris Mitchell posted a .857 hitting percentage with six kills and no errors.
- Brandon Millias tallied 25 assists and eight aces.
- Tristen Crespo notched four aces and four digs.
- Kevin Villada tallied two kills for the Panthers.
