Camden, N.J. (2/8/23) – The Kean University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 77-54 win over host Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (14-9, 12-4 NJAC) got off to a slow start, but still scored the first eight points of the contest to gain the advantage. Kean led by as many as 16 on three occasions in the second quarter and went into the break with the score at 33-19. Shannon McCoy had 14 first half points.
The second half belonged to Sarah Olivero who connected on seven treys. Her seventh gave Kean their largest lead of the day (27 points) late in the fourth quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Olivero finished with 23 points, tying a career best. She added five rebounds. McCoy added 21 points and nine rebounds. Kayla Anderson had an all-around night with eight points, six rebounds and six assists while Macy Seaman contributed with eight points and eight rebounds.
Jalissa Pitts had a game-high 25 points for Rutgers-Camden (3-20, 1-15 NJAC)
