UNION, N.J. (3/18/23) – Kylie Giordano totaled five points on four goals and one assist as the Kean University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest to SUNY Canton, 13-12 on Saturday afternoon.
Samantha Dayter totaled seven points on five goals and two assists for the Kangaroos who improve to 1-4 overall.
Nicole Peters made seven saves for the Cougars who fall to 1-4 overall.
First Half
- Giordano and Zoe Sabosik both scored twice as the Cougars trailed 6-4 at halftime.
- The Cougars traded goals, but were playing catch up for most of the half.
- Sabosik and Giordano opened the second quarter with back-to-back goals to hold their only lead at 3-2.
- Peters collected four saves.
Second Half
- Canton closed the third quarter on a 4-1 run, including back-to-back goals for an 11-7 lead entering the fourth.
- Giordano and Amanda Brzoska both tallied two fourth quarter goals apiece as the Cougars cut the deficit down to one before time expired.
Inside the Box
- Brzoska totaled four points on three goals and one assist.
- Sabosik finished with four points on two goals and two assists.
- Rosalee Lachner tallied two goals.
- Shannon Palen posted three points on two assists and one goal.
- Grace Michielli and Jenn Koval collected four groundballs apiece.
- Lachner totaled three groundballs, three caused turnovers and three draw controls.
