UNION, N.J. (3/24/23) - Maxwell Thompson and
Jack Freese combined for 10 kills as the Kean University men's volleyball team was swept by Concordia-Wisconsin, 3-0 in straight sets on Senior Day.
Ben Kayser totaled 10 kills and nine digs for the Falcons who improve to 11-7 overall. Thompson finished with five kills and a .364 hitting percentage for the Cougars who fall to 11-10 overall.
First Set
- CWU won 25-16.
- The Falcons posted a .364 hitting percentage while holding Kean to a -.036 percentage.
- CWU only committed three errors on 22 swings.
- The Cougars trailed by two early before the Falcons closed on a 13-6 run.
Second Set
- CWU won 25-19.
- The Falcons hit .222 compared to a .037 hitting percentage for Kean.
- CWU jumped out to a 12-4 lead and didn't look back.
- The Falcons recorded six team blocks.
- Freese tallied four kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the set.
Third Set
- CWU won 25-22.
- The Falcons notched a .091 hitting percentage, while Kean posted a -.129 percentage.
- There were nine ties and three lead changes.
- Kean jumped out to a 6-1 lead, before extending it to a 10-5 advantage.
- After trading points, the Cougars held a 22-21 advantage on back-to-back Falcons' service errors.
- CWU put the match to bed with a 4-0 run.
