UNION, N.J. (3/25/23) – Brandon Millias totaled 16 kills and a .419 hitting percentage as the Kean University men's volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to MIT, 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Grant Oh notched 14 kills and a .323 hitting percentage for the Engineers who improve to 11-11 overall.
Rajheem Meulens tallied 11 kills for the Cougars who fall to 11-11 overall.
First Set
- MIT won 25-23.
- Both sides hit under .100.
- It was a back-and-forth set throughout with neither side holding larger than a four-point lead.
- The Engineers reached set point on a 7-3 run, Kean responded with four straight points to cut the lead down to one at 24-23.
- Troy Oliveira took the set with a Max Turner assist.
Second Set
- MIT won 25-19.
- The Engineers hit .300, while the Cougars posted a .156 hitting percentage.
- Kean traded points as MIT used a 6-2 mid-set run to hold at least a three-point advantage for the remainder of the set.
Third Set
- Kean won 25-17.
- The Cougars posted a match-high .348 while holding MIT to .074.
- Kean opened with an 11-5 run, that saw back-to-back kills from Meulens.
- MIT cut the lead down to three multiple times, but the Cougars finished with a 9-4 run that included three kills from Aidan Flinn and Meulens.
Fourth Set
- MIT won 25-16.
- The Engineers hit a match-high .418 in the victory.
- An 8-3 run allowed MIT to push their advantage to 18-11.
- Millias finished with five kills and a block assist in the set.
Inside the Box
- Flinn totaled eight digs and four kills.
- Luke Frankenfield finished with 33 assists, 11 digs, and four kills.
