HUNTINGDON, Pa. (3/31/23) – Aidan Flinn notched 10 kills as the Kean University men's volleyball team was swept by #3 Juniata College in straight sets on Friday evening.
Will Phelan totaled 12 kills and nine digs for the Golden Eagles who improve to 24-2 overall and 6-1 in the Continental Volleyball Conference.
Rajheem Meulens finished with nine kills for the Cougars who fall to 12-12 overall and 2-3 in the CVC.
First Set
- Juniata won 25-18.
- The Golden Eagles hit .417 compared to a .125 percentage for the Cougars.
- Juniata opened on a 9-4 run and never surrendered the lead.
- After getting into an early deficit, Kean traded points for the rest of the set.
Second Set
- Juniata won 25-19.
- The Golden Eagles hit .419 compared to a .211 percentage for the Cougars.
- Juniata again opened on a 9-4 run and never surrendered the lead.
- Despite the deficit, the Cougars would cut the lead down to 22-19 before the Golden Eagles closed with a 3-0 run.
Third Set
- Juniata won 32-30.
- The Eagles hit .200, while the Cougars posted a .159 percentage.
- Kean opened on a 12-5 run that included two kills and an ace from Flinn.
- Juniata responded with a 13-6 run to regain the lead at 19-18.
- After both sides reached match point, the set entered extra points.
- Kean went back and forth, before the Golden Eagles took the match on a Maxwell Barr kill and a Cougars attack error.
