Union, N.J. (4/11/23) – Ramapo College swept the Kean University softball team in NJAC action on Tuesday.
Game One – Ramapo 4, Kean 3
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The teams' traded single runs in the first inning before the Roadrunners (22-5-1, 6-1-1 NJAC) scored what would be the winning run in the fifth inning off a three run homer from Avery Bartlomeo.
Kean (17-11, 2-6 NJAC) chipped away and scored a single run in the fifth on a Karly Messina RBI single and closed the deficit to one in the bottom of the seventh as Autaum Hilyer singled up the middle. With runners on first and second and two outs, Brooke Knight closed the door with a pop up to end the threat.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Messina was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Game Two – Ramapo 6, Kean 1
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Roadrunners jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning with two RBI singles and a Cougar miscue. Ramapo added two more in the third and one in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.
The Cougars erased the shutout in the sixth as Hilyer collected an RBI single.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Andee Perseponko, Melody Caces and Messina each had two hits for Kean in the loss.
Kori Gargiulo was 1-for-2 with two RBI for Ramapo.

Kean travels to take on Rutgers-Newark on Saturday.
