UNION, N.J. (4/11/23) – 10 second half goals lifted the Kean University women's lacrosse team to a 13-8 victory over Ramapo College in their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener on Saturday afternoon.
Rosalee Lachner notched seven groundballs, four goals and two caused turnovers for the Cougars who improve to 3-8 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC. Colleen Mason totaled five points on four goals and one assist for the Roadrunners who fall to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the NJAC.
First Half
- Kean traded goals with Ramapo in the first half as Amanda Brzoska, Lachner and Lauren Pluta tallied goals for the Cougars.
- Brzoska scored just before halftime as the Cougars led 10-7 on shots.
Second Half
- Kean broke the game open in the third with six goals, including two from Brzoska and Lachner.
- Sam Murri scored and assisted on a goal for the Cougars who maintained a 9-4 lead entering the fourth.
- Grace Michielli tallied a hat-trick, while Zoe Sabosik notched two assists as Kean added four more goals in the fourth.
Inside the Box
- Michielli finished with six draw controls, three goals, two caused turnovers and one assist.
- Kylie Giordano totaled six draw controls and one goal.
- Kat Palaia tallied an assist.
- Murri and Jenn Koval collected two groundballs apiece.
- Nicole Peters made four saves.
