#14 Rowan Sweeps Softball

GLASSBORO, N.J. (4/22/23) – Sydney Hixenbaugh went 3-for-7 with one RBI as the Kean University softball team was swept by #14 Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday.

Rowan 5, Kean 3
  • Rowan capitalized on a Cougar throwing error to score three runs in the bottom of the first.
  • Kean notched their first run of the afternoon with a Hixenbaugh RBI single that scored Eliza Filus.
  • The Profs added two more runs in the fifth when McCaffery stole home and Pawlowski hit an RBI single.
  • Filus helped Kean get back two runs in the sixth with a two RBI double.
  • Filus went 2-for-3 with two RBI's and a run scored.
  • Hixenbaugh finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, while striking out two batters in the circle.
  • Autaum Hilyer went 2-for-3 with a run scored.   

Rowan 4, Kean 1
  • The Cougars lone run came when Annabella Marino hit a solo homerun to left center in the seventh.
  • Andee Perseponko finished 2-for-3.
  • Hixenbaugh went 1-for-3.
  • Marino went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while striking out five batters in a complete game loss.

Head Coach Margie Acker and the Cougars will return to action on Tuesday, Apr. 25th, hosting the Pioneers of William Paterson University for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
