WORCESTER, Mass. (4/5/23) – Dylan Johnson scored four times as the Kean University men's lacrosse team used a key fourth quarter run to earn an 11-8 non-conference victory over Clark University on Wednesday evening.
Nick Thorne totaled three points on two goals and one assist for the Cougars who improve to 9-2 overall. Four players notched two points apiece for the Cougars who fall to 2-7 overall.
First Half
- Kean scored three goals apiece in both the first and second quarters to hold a 6-2 advantage at halftime.
- Johnson scored twice, while Thorne scored and assisted on a goal as the Cougars maintained a 3-1 lead after one quarter of action.
- Kean closed the half with goals by Christian Schlaefer, Connor Batjer and Hunter Jenkinson.
- The Cougars led 25-17 on shots, including 14-9 on cage.
Second Half
- Kean opened with back-to-back goals from Johnson and Cormac McCabe to take their largest lead of the game at 8-3.
- Clark responded by closing the third quarter with four straight goals to cut the Cougar advantage to 8-7 entering the fourth.
- In the fourth, the defense held Clark to just six shots, including four on goal.
- After trading goals, Johnson and Thorne scored goals inside the final five minutes to put the Cougars in front for good.
Inside the Box
- Batjer notched two points on two goals.
- Devin Reppert made 11 saves with three groundballs and one caused turnover.
- Johnson and Jenkinson both collected four groundballs apiece.
- Nicholas Moffa went 6-for-10 at the X.
- Johnson, Steven Thorne, Kenny Yeager, Tyler Scott, and Thorne all recorded two caused turnovers apiece.
