Galloway, N.J. (4/6/23) – The Kean University baseball team picked up a 6-3 win at Stockton University on Thursday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Kyle Adorno jumped right into things with a leadoff double. He moved 90 feet closer with a single from Tyler Provost and Christian Pellone drove him home with a sac fly and a 1-0 lead.
The Ospreys (13-9, 1-2 NJAC) took a 2-1 lead in the third scoring on a balk and later an unearned run off a sac fly.
The Cougars (12-11, 2-1 NJAC) tied things up in their next at bat as Josh Jackson doubled to lead off the inning and after swiping third, scored on a sac fly from Tyler Stone.
Kean took the lead for good in the top of the fifth as Phil Marcantonio collected an RBI single and Jackson registered an RBI with his second double of the afternoon.
Gianni Marano helped his own cause with an RBI single in the seventh.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Marano picked up the win as he tossed eight innings. He (2-1) allowed just two earned runs and seven hits. He walked two and fanned two.
Nick Houghton earned his third save of the season with a scoreless, hitless ninth inning. He faced just four batters and struck out one.
Offensively the Cougars had six doubles on the afternoon and six players with two hits each.
