ROANOKE, Va. (4/7/23) – Aidan Flinn posted 10 kills as the Kean University men's volleyball team swept the first-ever meeting with Roanoke College in straight sets on Friday evening.
Rajheem Meulens totaled 10 digs, nine kills and four block assists for the Cougars who improve to 14-14 overall and 3-4 in the Continental Volleyball Conference. Michael Cummings recorded 11 kills for the Maroons who fall to 7-17 overall and 0-6 in the CVC.
First Set
- Kean won 25-12.
- The Cougars posted a .435 hitting percentage, while holding Roanoke to .056.
- Meulens notched five kills as the Cougars raced out to a 17-7 advantage.
Second Set
- Kean won 25-19.
- The Cougars posted a .206 hitting percentage, while holding the Maroons to a .000 percentage.
- Kean opened on a 10-4 run, before Roanoke responded with an 8-4 run to shave the lead down to 19-18.
- The Cougars closed on a 6-1 run that included two kills from Meulens and three block assists from Maxwell Thompson.
Third Set
- Kean won 25-17.
- The Cougars tallied a .304 hitting percentage, while holding Roanoke to a .107 percentage.
- Kean opened on an 11-5 run, behind four kills from Flinn and two from Brandon Millias.
- The Cougars would extend their lead to 18-9 on a Chris Mitchell ace.
Inside the Box
- Thompson totaled six kills and six block assists.
- Luke Frankenfield totaled 29 assists, five digs, four kills and three aces.
- Ryan DiCandilo and Millias both notched four kills apiece.
- Cris Naranjo tallied eight digs.
