Montclair, N.J. (1/13/24) – Brittany Graff scored a career-high 33 points to help the Kean University women's basketball team to a 76-66 win over host Montclair State University on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (10-6, 7-2 NJAC) jumped out to a quick six point lead as Graff scored the game's first three buckets. The Red Hawks (6-10, 3-6 NJAC) tied things up on two occasions in the first 10 minutes as both teams battled to a 15-all tie.
Montclair took their first lead of the day in the final two minutes of the first half behind a three pointer. They would hold on to that lead going into the break (38-33).
The Red Hawks would push out to the game's first double-digit lead early in the third quarter off a 6-0 run.
Kean chipped away and Maya Edwards helped KU regain the lead with a layup at the 4:22 mark. The Cougars outscored Montclair, 24-11 in the period.
Kean opened up their advantage to as many as 15 points in the final quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Rookie Gigi Gamble added 20 points and four steals while Shahd Badeer registered eight points and 15 rebounds and two blocks.
