Union, N.J. (1/17/24) – Rookie Gigi Gamble poured in a career-high 33 points to help the Kean University women's basketball top visiting William Paterson University, 95-70 on Wednesday evening in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
It was a see-saw affair in the first 10 minutes of action before the Cougars (11-6, 8-2 NJAC) blew the game wide open in the second stanza, outscoring WP, 32-13.
Holding a five point advantage (27-22) with 5:40 to go in the quarter, Kean rolled off 23-3 run to end the first half, pushing the lead to 50-28. Gamble, Shahd Badeer and Jordyn Keating each had six points in the spurt.
The Cougars took their largest lead of the evening with the first bucket of the fourth quarter from Badeer (77-45).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Gamble added four steals and five assists while Brittany Graff collected a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists. She also grabbed six rebounds. Badeer also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 15 boards as five Cougars finished in double point figures. In total, 15 Cougars saw action in the win.
For the Pioneers, Brianna Smith led the squad with 20 points.
