Women's Hoops Runs Past Rowan, 89-70

Union, N.J. (1/6/24) – The Kean University women's basketball team started off 2024 on the right foot with an 89-70 win over visiting Rowan University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The first 20 minutes featured a see-saw battle with neither team taking more than a six point advantage.

Kean (8-6, 5-2 NJAC) scored the final four points of the second quarter off free throws to take their largest lead of the day, 43-35.

The Cougars did not trail the rest of the way, outscoring the Profs (6-7, 3-4 NJAC), 46-35, in the final 20 minutes.

The double-digit victory margin is the first for Kean versus Rowan since 2013.

INSIDE THE BOX:

Brittany Graff, Maya Edwards and Gigi Gamble all finished with 20+ points (23, 22, 21 respectively).

Graff added eight assists while Gamble added seven.

Rookie Riley Ahrens added 12 points and eight rebounds while Macy Seaman recorded six points and 11 rebounds.

As a team, the Cougars connected on 14 three-pointers in the contest.

For the Profs, Nicole Mallard led the team with 16 points.
