NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (11/23/24) – Three players scored in double-figures as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest to #5 Christopher Newport University, 77-63 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED!!!

• Justin Morton notched 11 first half points as the Cougars trailed 40-32 at the half.
• CNU opened on a 9-2 run, before back-to-back buckets from Andrew Turco cut the lead down to 9-7.
• The Captains responded with a 20-9 run that push their lead to 29-13 with seven minutes to play.
• CNU maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the half, before Morton's triple with two seconds left pulled the Cougars to single digits just before halftime.
• Kean traded buckets in the second half as the Cougars couldn't chip the lead down to anything closer than eight points.

INSIDE THE BOX

• Morton posted 19 points.
• Phil Brown Jr. notched 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.
• Turco recorded 10 points.
