Jersey City, N.J. (12/14/24) – The Kean University women's basketball team picked up a 57-47 win over host New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (4-5, 2-3 NJAC) used an 8-0 run late in the first quarter to turn a one-point deficit into a lead they would not relinquish.
Kean widened the gap and pushed the advantage out to double-digits, including a 17 lead at the break.
The Cougars led by as many as 24 with a trey from Brittany Graff early in the third quarter.
NJCU (3-6, 2-3 NJAC) chipped away and brought the deficit down to single digits and closed to within seven with just over a minute to go in the contest. Kean was able to hold off the rally and hit three free throws down the stretch.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Maddison Vaughn led all players with an all-around effort (17 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and six steals).
Maya Edwards contributed with 13 points, six rebounds and five steals and Graff finished with 13 points and four rebounds.
