Union, N.J. (2/27/24) – The Kean University baseball team improved to 7-1 with an 11-2 rain shortened win over Drew University in a makeup contest this afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars pushed across six runs in the bottom of the second. Highlighting the inning was a three-run homer from Gianni Marano, his third homerun of the season.
The Rangers (1-2) got on the board with a single run in the top of the third as Anthony Diaz Jr. led off the inning with a triple and came around to score on an Anthony Hernandez single.
Drew added one more in the top of the fifth with a sac fly to cut the deficit to 6-2.
Kean put the game out of reach in the bottom of the same inning with five more. Tyler Stone recorded a bases loaded walk and JT Abrusci lined a two RBI single.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Offensively Christian Pellone was 2-for-2 with two runs scored while Tim Wright was 2-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI.
On the mound Chris Urbanik (1-1) got the win after tossing four innings of one run ball in the rain shortened affair. He struck out three.
