Union, N.J. (2/29/24) – Immaculata University won the battle of the blues on Thursday afternoon by the final of 9-5 over the Kean University baseball team.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mighty Macs (3-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings by plating one via an error in the first and later a two run homer from Sal Serici in the second.
Kean (7-2) got one back in the bottom of the third as Christian Pellone singled home Justin Teixeira who reached on a two out double.
Immaculata opened the game with four runs in the seventh inning, all with two outs. Joey Wright connected on a solo shot and Ryan Struble later lofted a three run homer for an 8-1 lead.
Tyler Stone added two for the Cougars in the bottom of the eighth with a single to the gap.
Trailing 9-3 in their last at-bat, Kean's Gianni Marano plated two with a double for what would be the final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Stone was 3-for-4 with two RBI while Marano was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
For the Mighty Macs, Serici was 3-for-5.
