Leesburg Fla. (3/12/24) – The Kean University softball team swept today's action by defeating Ohio Wesleyan University, 9-3 and Mt. St. Mary College, 6-3.
Game One – Kean 9, OWU 3
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Tied 1-1, the Cougars plated three runs in the third with RBI from Karly Messina, Maya Thompson (triple) and Bella Truelove (single).
OWU pulled back within one in the fourth, but Kean put the game out of reach with a five run fifth.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Messina was 2-for-4 with four RBI while Eliza Filus was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Anabella Farinha earned the win with a four inning shutout relief appearance.
Game Two – Kean 6, MSM 3
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Leading 2-1 heading into the fourth inning, Kean broke the game open with four runs. Filus line a two RBI single while Thompson added an RBI single.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Thompson was 3-for-3 with two RBI while Filus was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Nikki Lusnia earned the win, allowing just one run and striking out nine.
