Center Valley, Pa. (3/20/24) – The Kean University softball team dropped a doubleheader to host DeSales University by the scores of 2-0 & 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Game One – DeSales 2, Kean 0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars outhit the Bulldogs, 9-4, but were unable to capitalize, leaving eight runners on base.
DeSales (12-4) took advantage of a Cougar throwing miscue in the bottom of the fifth with two outs that led to two unearned runs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Nikki Lusnia and Eliza Filus each had two hits in the loss.
Game Two – DeSales 6, Kean 2
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars again outhit DeSales, 9-5, leaving eight runners on base.
The Bulldogs capitalized on extra base hits, scoring first in the second inning on a two run homer. They added four more in the third with a two RBI double, an RBI double and around three Kean miscues.
The Cougars scratched across two runs in the fifth as Filus tripled home Melody Caces who reached on a single. Filus crossed the plate on an RBI groundout from Karly Messina.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Caces and Maya Thompson each had two hits in the nightcap.
