UNION, N.J. (4/20/24) – Nick Thorne notched the game-winner with 1:53 remaining to lift the Kean University men's lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory over the University of Mary Washington in their Coastal Lacrosse Conference regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED!!!
- After falling behind 4-0, the Cougars closed the half on a 7-2 run to hold a slim 7-6 advantage at halftime.
- Johnson scored twice and added an assist during Kean's second quarter run.
- Both sides traded the lead during the third with Brandon Stuart and Connor Batjer scoring back-to-back goals late as the Cougars held an 9-8 advantage entering the fourth.
- In the final quarter, Kean opened with back-to-back goals from Thorne and Anthony Porter to extend their lead to the largest of the game at 11-8 with 11:30 to play.
- The Eagles responded with three straight to even everything at 11 with 5:53 remaining.
- Johnson connected with Thorne for the game-winning just four minutes later.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Johnson and Batjer both totaled five points apiece.
- Porter posted four points.
- Jacob Dvoor and Christian Updale went a combined 16 for-26 at the X with seven groundballs.
