UNION, N.J. (4/30/24) – Karly Messina finished 3-for-4 with three RBI's and a run scored as the third seeded Kean University softball team earned an 8-3 victory over sixth seeded Rutgers-Camden to open the New Jersey Athletic Conference Softball Tournament on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED!!!

• Kean notched four runs over the first two innings, which included two RBI's from Messina.
• After Camden got a run back in the top of the third, Eliza Filus drove in two runs with a triple to right center.
• The Cougars added two more runs in the fifth when Brianna Sciulli scored on a wild pitch and Messina smacked an RBI single to right center to score Filus.

INSIDE THE BOX

• Melody Caces finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
• Sciulli went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
• Filus went 1-for-3 with two RBI's and a run scored.
• Nikki Lusnia struck out five in the complete game victory.
