Madison, N.J. (9/5/24) – The Kean University women's volleyball team opened with a split at the Marlin Invitational held at Virginia Wesleyan University on Friday evening.
Kean 3, Drew 0 (25-15, 25-10-, 25-22)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars got off to slow start in the opening set, but quickly turned things around with an 8-0 run. Ashley Kingsley started off the run with a kill and provided three aces in the span. Once Kean took the lead, they didn't look back, widening the margin to as many as 10 on three occasions.
Kean kept the momentum and jumped out to a huge 14-3 advantage in the second set. The Cougars cruised the rest of the way to close out the set.
The Cougars trailed late in the third set (22-17), but rallied with eight straight points to push to the straight set win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Bella Stem led all players with 13 kills while Taylor Micheaux recorded 10 kills with no errors on 24 swings.
Kingsley finished with nine kills and match-high 15 digs and four aces.
UP NEXT:
Kean travels to Misericordia University to take on the Cougars and Farmingdale State in tri-match action on Saturday.
