Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Splits on Saturday

Dallas, Pa. (9/7/24) – The Kean University women's volleyball team split in tri-match action on Saturday.

Misericordia 3, Kean 0 (25-27, 25-27, 25-23)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It was a true see-saw battle of Cougars for the entire matchup.

Kean used a three point run to push to set point (24-22), but back-to-back kills from Rachel LoFasco forced extras.  An MU error gave KU the advantage back, but two kills from Keira McCaffrey along with an assisted block gave Misericordia set one.

It was more of the same in set two, but this time Kean pushed out to a small lead, 19-15, with a 6-0 run.  Later Kean led 22-17, but MU roared back and tied things up at 23-all. Misericordia registered four kills down the stretch to go up 2-0.

The third set was tighter, with no large runs from either team.  KU was ahead 22-20 before MU scored five of the last six points of the match to claim the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Anne Marie Beckemeyer led Kean with 10 kills and three blocks while committing just one error.  She added six digs and an ace.

Madeline Dohogne added 11 digs with three aces and three kills.

Alison Kowalewski rounded out the double-digit scoring with eight kills and eight digs in addition to two aces.

Kean 3, Farmingdale State 0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-16)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Cougars dominated the first set, scoring the match's first seven points as well as an 11-0 run along the way.

The Rams (1-2) kept it close early, but a short mini burst of six straight for Kean was even cushion the rest of the way.

Kean trailed early in the third set, but turned it on midway through to push to the straight set win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Taylor Micheaux led all players with nine kills while hitting .563.  She added nine digs.

Olivia Capra registered eight kills and eight digs and Ashley Kingsley provided seven kills while hitting .429.

UP NEXT:

Kean enjoys a short break before traveling to SUNY Cortland for another tri-match next Saturday.
