Women's Basketball Tops Rutgers-Newark

Union, N.J. (1/15/25) – The Kean University women's team improved to .500 in NJAC play with a 76-58 win over Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It was a see-saw battle early before the Cougars (7-8, 4-4 NJAC) ended the first quarter on an 11-2 run to break a 13-all deadlock.

Kean used that momentum to extend the lead over the next 10 minutes, leading by 14 at the intermission (41-27).

The Cougars scored the first 10 points of the second half to jump out to what would be their largest lead of the day (+24).

Rutgers-Newark then chipped away and reduced the deficit to just six (55-49) early in the fourth quarter, aided by 10 points from Sanaa Brodie in the run.

The Cougars regrouped and pushed the lead back out to double-digits the rest of the way.
