Union, N.J. (1/4/25) – The Kean University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 48-36 non-conference victory over Eastern University on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Cougars improve to 5-7 overall while playing their last non-conference game of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Kean jumped out to a 9-0 lead before the Eagles rallied and closed within one to close out the first quarter.
After a back-and-forth second quarter, the Cougars headed into the break with a five-point lead (20-15).
Both teams recorded 14 points in the third stanza, with the Eagles again closing to within one, but the Cougars were finally able to push out to a double-digit lead in the final 10 minutes. With just over two minutes to go, Brittany Graff hit both of her free throws to give Kean a 45-34 advantage.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Maddison Vaughn led all players with a double-double 22 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.
Ericka Mercedes was just short of a triple-double with nine points, nine rebounds and eight steals.
Graff finished the afternoon with 13 points and six rebounds.
