Newark, N.J. (10/14/25) – The Kean University women's volleyball team topped host Rutgers-Newark in NJAC action in straight sets on Tuesday evening.
Kean 3, Rutgers-Newark 0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-14)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Tied at 22-all in the first set, the Cougars (17-4, 3-1 NJAC) rolled off three straight kills, to take a 1-0 lead.
The second stanza was a set of runs. Kean led 24-21, before the Scarlet Raiders used two Cougar errors and a kill to tie the set at 24-all. A kill from Victoria Latino and a block from Cayley Elena Morrison put the Cougars ahead, 2-0.
Kean led wire-to-wire in the final set to return home with a win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Rookie Ashley Torok led all players with 14 kills while Latino finished with 11 kills and seven digs. Morrison recorded 10 kills and five blocks. Annabelle Valencia registered 19 digs.
