Union, N.J. (11/13/25) – The Kean University women's volleyball team advanced to the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship with a 3-0 win over William Paterson University on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (28-5) fell behind early in the opening set (6-2), but tied things up at six-all behind back-to-back kills from Cayley Elena Morrison. The Pioneers (19-12) jumped back ahead (9-6) with a Cougar service error and a pair of aces from Bella Demers. That would be the last lead for WP in the first set as Kean rolled off six straight points aided by three aces from Madeline Dohogne. The Cougars ended the set on a 7-1 run.
Kean once again trailed 9-6 in the second frame, but this time rode the serve of rookie Ashley Torok who recorded three aces in an 8-0 spurt. The Cougars cruised from there as Alison Kowalewski and Bella Stem put Kean ahead 2-0 with back-to-back kills to end the set.
After falling behind 2-0 in the final stanza, the Cougars exploded for 16 of the game's next 19 points to push their way out to an advantage they would not relinquish.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Torok led all players with 13 kills and 17 points. Morrison added nine kills while hitting .538. Kowalewski registered nine kills and eight digs and Aspen O'Brien recorded 32 assists, five digs and four kills. Dohogne had a match-high 16 digs and four aces.

Kean will host #3 Stockton University on Saturday at 4 p.m. for the NJAC Championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
