Montclair, N.J. (11/4/25) – The Kean University women's volleyball team topped Montclair State University in straight sets on their way to claiming the 2025 New Jersey Athletic Conference regular season title on Tuesday evening.
Kean 3, MSU 0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars (25-5, 7-1 NJAC) led from start to finish in the opening set. Montclair kept things close throughout, but Kean was able to score the final four points with kills from Aubre Adams and Cayley Elena Morrison along with a block from Morrison and Victoria Latino.
The Red Hawks had some early momentum in the second frame, pushing out to an 11-7 advantage. However, the Cougars later rallied with a seven-point spurt, dominating with five kills and an ace in the run to regain the lead (18-15). Both teams traded points down the stretch, but Kean was able to register three of the final four points as an MSU miscue and kills from Morrison and Alison Kowalewski put Kean ahead, 2-0.
The Cougars cruised to open the third set (14-7), but the Red Hawks were not going away without a fight, pulling within one on four separate occasions, including (24-23). Adams registered her sixth kill of the night to close out the match and secure the win for the Cougars.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The regular season title is the first for the Cougars since 2017.
Morrison led the Cougars with 11 kills, tying a match-high for the night. She added five blocks and five digs.
Rookie Ashley Torock recorded 10 kills and six digs while Kowalewski provided seven kills, four aces and 11 digs.

Kean closes out the regular season on Saturday with a tri-match starting at 10 a.m. The Cougars will then host NJAC semifinal action on Thursday, November 13th at 7 p.m.
