Purchase, N.Y. (11/8/25) – The Kean University men's basketball team used a strong second half to win their season opener against Purchase College, 62-58 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a back-and-forth first half, the Cougars won the see-saw battle late with a 10-2 run to take the lead for good. Phil Brown Jr. started and ended the run with buckets while Malachi Jeffers-Viera added back-to-back layups.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Brown finished the day with a double-double, recording game-highs in points (16) and rebounds (12).
Daniel Dextraze registered 14 points and was one shy of a double-double (9 rebounds). Kareem Irby also added 14 points.

Kean travels to New York University next Saturday.
